Day 12: Light snow and some hail (small hail)

Out today at Lasalle on the 102L with my 5.6. The wind was starting to shift to the west a bit more so it made for a nice afternoon. Should have brought my goggles. That hail is prickly on the face. Started to be overpowered at the end.

A few pictures for those not familiar with the area. The point is the entrance of the Welland canal that links lake ontario and lake erie. From Lasalle you sail to the point on a W-NW day. The lighthouse is port dalhousie (where I was yesterday). On N or NE you can sail just on the other side of the lighthouse.

Day 11: 2 lessons

Wow what an afternoon. Cold front arrived today bringing some seriously good on-shore wind and cold temps. I learnt two things today: 1) make sure you freeze your fingers while rigging (that way they will be ok once on the water), 2) Cold April water felt really nice today compared to air temp. Great solo time at Port Dalhousie Beach (winds from the North at 25-30 knots). Started on 4.5 with 86L but the wind was too on-shore make it hard to break the surf. Went to 5.0 and 102L and it was perfect. Riding side-shore, never having to go too far out. Lots of fun.

Day 10: Surprise session!

Wind picked up around noon and ended at Lasalle for a couple of hours on 5.6 and 102L. Will take it.

Day 8: Yes, it is still the same ship...

same ship, same wind (about 20-22 knots) and almost the same sailors. Adrian, Marty and I were at the Club for a couple of hours today. Pretty solid wind and nice ramps after a day and a half of NW. Lots of North so took bigger stuff. Was out on my 6.2 and 102L board. Marty in green/yellow and Adrian in red in the pix.

That ship has been there now for 3 days. I heard that the captain said the same thing about us....

I think the water temp was warmer than the air temp......

Day 7: Another treat at Club Lasalle

Good west winds at the club today. 6.2/5.6 on the 102L with winds building when I left. Adrian was there and Brian was just
rigging up when I left. Here are some nice pics taken by my son Dillon:

Day 6: Easter sail

Winds picked up around 15:30 today. Headed to Club Lasalle. Overcast and a bit chilly. 30 minutes later, the sun was out, the wind was blowing from the west 20-25 knots and nice waves. Really, really nice sailing on 5.6 and 5.0 with 102L and 86L. Marty and Brendan were also out with a few kiters.
